LOOK AT SUBSCRIPTION OPTIONSLet's make a banner!
- Acrylic paint
- Stencils
- String
- Muslin bags from your subscription box (Don't have the muslin bags? Use paper, paper brown bags, or fabric of your choice instead!)
- Gelli roller (optional)
- Banner template
- Scissors
- Decoration of choice
- Glue
Step 1: Trace Template
Using a light box or a window, trace either the large or the small banner template onto your fabric or paper of choice.
Step 2: Cut the shape
Cut out as many banner flags as you want. For the large template, you can get 2 flags out of one muslin bag. For the small template, you can get 6-8 flags out of one muslin bag.
Step 3: Prep Your Stencil
You can transfer designs to your flags by either painting directly on the surface for a more precise look, or you can use a gelly roller and printing plate to get a printed-on look. However you decide to do your designs, be mindful of the top half-inch of your flag as that is the area that will be folded back and glued down.
If using the printing plate method, check out this blog post to see how it works.
Step 4: Add Letters
Using your decorative tools of choice, make letters on your flags. In the photo shown here, the Dot-A-Lot Craft Paint is being used.
Don't know what to have your banner say? Try "Thankful", "Happy Thanksgiving", or something a little more fun like "Gobble, Gobble!"
Step 5: Decorate
Get creative! Add any finishing details to make your banner pop.
Step 6: Glue
Place the top of your flag underneath a long piece of string. Glue the top portion and fold down over the string.
Done!
