Fun and colorful

After watching some of Sarah's tutorials on YouTube and before investing in a monthly subscription, I decided to try a couple sale kits. I bought another kit for myself and this one for my 12-year-old daughter who is very into art and loves big cats. She tactfully told me that watercolors weren't her medium, so I could have it if I want it. Tweens. Lucky for me, though, because I wanted to steal it from her as soon as she opened it! I'm relatively new to watercolor painting, and just learning. This kit has been a perfect opportunity to play around with color mixing and blending as well as other techniques. I've been using dry pan paints, and I'm loving experimenting with the liquids. Plus the pearl-ex powder pigment was a fun surprise. I'm working my way up to the cheetah so that I can give it back to my daughter completed. I only followed the written instructions before starting the rainbows. I watched the video tutorial later, and realized I should have watched it first. It looked so simple, but Sarah gave such great insight into her process, that I think I would have enjoyed it more that way. In fact, I wasn't planning on repeating that project a second time, but I probably will now on a day when I need a little zen. I'll probably use the pearl pigment! Can't wait to get into the second kit. Once I'm finished with them both, I'll definitely be subscribing.

This was a fun box

I liked the expression of color. I just couldn't get the rainbows though. I struggled and struggled. Finally, I drew overlapping circles and make them different colors allowing them to bleed when they touched still wet. I like it. When I did the second attempts of the projects, for some of the items, I added in some of the powered metallic received in another box to make different items stand out, such as the forefront of the reeds in the landscape scene. I also did a third attempt of the raindrops but this time using only black and gray.
