I wanted to do Koi fish for two reasons – 1. It is a great lesson in showing color even on “white” parts of an animal. We often assume that if we know that there is a white area that it is just that – white. But in actuality most of the time there is light and shadow on this white area which gives it some color! The second is the COLOR. I am so drawn to the bright yellow-orangeness of this colorful fish. Trust me when you lay that color down you are going to love it. Just like our previous projects I broke this one down into four easy steps: 1. Shading on the white first, orange spots second, fins third, and of course details (eyes, fish scales) last. I am SO excited to see how all of your turn out so don’t forget to share your work!
